Website 2.0

After completing your mock-up it is time to take the plunge:

1. Select a template site for your final website, wix, squarespace, format etc. Register with your username and password, you should follow the instructions and get the 2 week trial offer.
On your blog, declare what your site and the address of your final site and write a report on what you have accomplished (self-assessment).

2. Make a link from your blog to your temporary site (or final site).

3. Make a favicon (you don't need to use this for your final site), in photoshop create a 100x100 pixel file, with your icon (initials etc) and save it as a png. Place on your site.

4. All photos on your site need an alt tag or meta data for search engines (SEO). Each photo on your site should be named something like this:don_corman_fashion1.jpg. For example, in Squarespace, you should give each image a description; this becomes the alt tag for search engines.

Assignment 4

Slide Show:

You will make a multi media presentation of your photographs incorporating a short video clip with your still images. This will be shown at the vernissage in May and will be shown on a 50 inch tv. I realize that this is early in the semester, so I would like you to make a "rough draft " of your final presentation so that it will not be left until the end of the semester. Before the vernissage, you will be able to finalize by including new photos etc.
It could take the form of a traditional slide show with transitions between images and a short video integrated into the sequence. You should use some of the video you are creating for your other courses and use a portion of that video in this presentation.
- A minimum of 6 images and 1 short (no shorter than 10 seconds) video clip
- with the appropriate transitions between images

For next Monday bring at least 6 images to class to start the production of the presentation.

Due in 2 weeks

In summary the presentations should include:
-an intro title using your logo (if you wish)
- short video clip
- at least 6 images (sized for high res monitors), should be about 2000 pixels wide
- should also have a dynamic appeal, not boring, attention to pacing etc
- sound is an option
- the length should be in the 45-90 sec range, a presentation that could also appear on your website

Catalog Project

Catalog:

Each student will be contributing to the catalog for our exhibition; each student will have 2 pages in the catalogue so this assignment is to create a layout that will be used for this.

First step: to be done in the first week
Decide which of your images should go into the catalog, respecting one of the given templates.
Make a folder with the selected images, all images should be 300 dpi and in the tiff format.

Second step:
Work with the assigned templates that will work with your images. You should experiment with different combinations of pictures, for example a large one on the left and 2 smaller ones on the right as an example.

Third step
Export by creating a package (that will include your images, fonts etc), then place in my drop box entitled "lastname_catalog"
